Andrew Ions

Andrew began his career with completing a BSc in Chemistry at Cardiff University in 2022 with an industrial placement at the Central Laser Facility, focusing on developing LabVIEW programmes to control hardware in Ultrafast laser experiments. It was during this time Andrew attained Registered Scientist Status with the Royal society of Chemistry. Andrew then completed his MSc in 2023 focusing on chemical reactions catalysed by polymerised anthraquinones. Andrew became a DPhil student on the EPSRC OxICFM CDT 2023 cohort under the joint supervision of Professor Steve Faulkner and Professor Ester Hammond, his project is focused on finding methods of enhancing cellular uptake on Lanthanide based hypoxia probes. Andrews research interests also expand to spectroscopy of all kinds and programming laboratory hardware to aid chemical research.
